Dispur, October 12: Gunotsav has rekindled a ray of hope and has introduced a window of innovative and creative thinking in the system of education. The evaluation system that Gunotsav has brought in would lead to quality education and churning the students to contribute to the qualitative growth of the state and the nation. These were the observations of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while interacting with the students of Dinanath Nabakishore Girls' H.S. School at Silchar as a part of Gunotsav celebrations today.

Expressing his pleasure to visit Dinanath Nabakishore Girls' H.S. School at Silchar which was also visited by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhash Chadra Bose, Chief Minister Sonowal urged upon the students and teaching fraternity of the school to work on their rich legacy and contribute to the qualitative educational development of the State. Chief Minsiter Sonowal also inspected class rooms of the school and engaged in a direct interaction with the students of the school. Talking to the students of the school which was set up way back on August 1, 1921, Sonowal said that the school has played a great role in awakening the national spirit in the minds of the young people. It has to play a role in nation and state building, the chief Minister added. Emphasising that 'knowledge is power' and without education, knowledge will be elusive, Sonowal asked the teaching fraternity of the school to continue their avowed mission of dissemination knowledge and create a society imbued with knowledge.

Chief Minister Sonowal played the role of students and evaluated their knowledge skills by examining their assignments. He also urged upon the students to work for values like discipline, punctuality, perseverance and strong moral character. Saying that 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness' the Chief Minister called upon the student and teaching fraternity to lend their hands for a clean and serene school and its ambience. He also gifted a water purifier, a cooler and a garbage bin to the school authority.

Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dilip Kumar Paul, PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, several MLAs and a host of senior officers of the government were present on the occasion.
